We Fight for Veterans' Benefits
Too many veterans leave tens of thousands of dollars in earned benefits on the table every year - not because they don't qualify, but because the VA claims process is deliberately complex. We built Know Your VA Rating to change that.
Our Mission
Know Your VA Rating exists to level the playing field. The VA claims process involves layered regulations, combined rating math, secondary conditions, and documentation requirements that most veterans were never trained to navigate. We provide the tools, guides, and plain-language explanations that make the process approachable.
Every calculator, guide, and resource on this site is built to reflect how the VA actually processes claims - not how veterans assume it works. That means accurate combined rating math, real compensation tables, and step-by-step workflows based on current VA regulations.
We are not a law firm, and we do not charge for access to our tools. Our goal is simple: put the information veterans need directly in their hands, at no cost, with no agenda other than helping them get what they earned.
Why We Exist
The VA processes millions of disability claims each year, but the system was not designed with veteran-friendliness in mind. Combined rating calculations use a counterintuitive "whole person" method that routinely leaves veterans under-rated. Secondary conditions - injuries or illnesses caused by a primary service-connected condition - often go unclaimed entirely because veterans do not know they qualify.
Many veterans find the process easier with clear, plain-language guidance. The challenge is rarely the merit of a claim - it is knowing how to document, frame, and support it. Closing that knowledge gap is exactly what our free tools and guides are designed to help you do.
We built Know Your VA Rating because that gap should not exist. Whether you served four years or thirty, you deserve to understand exactly what you are owed and exactly how to pursue it. Our tools and guides bring institutional knowledge about the VA claims process directly to the veterans who need it most.
What We Stand For
Accuracy
VA math matters. Our combined rating calculator uses the same "whole person" method the VA applies, including bilateral factor adjustments. We update compensation tables annually so your estimates reflect actual current rates.
Accessibility
Every veteran deserves access to this information regardless of their financial situation. All tools on Know Your VA Rating are free, require no account, and will remain free. We do not gate content behind paywalls or subscriptions.
Transparency
No hidden fees. No upsells. No affiliate arrangements that compromise our guidance. When we recommend a resource or course of action, it is because it is in the veteran's best interest - full stop.
Built with Veterans, for Veterans
Our tools and guides are built using publicly available VA regulations and the M21-1 adjudication manual, along with other official government sources. We aim to explain how the VA claims process actually works in plain, accessible language.
We are not affiliated with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The content on this site is educational and informational in nature. For legal representation in a VA claim, we encourage veterans to work with an accredited VSO or attorney.
