Veterans' Employment Preference for State Jobs

Georgia grants a hiring preference for veterans (and certain spouses and surviving spouses) applying for state government employment, adding points to examination scores and providing retention protection during reductions in force.

Eligibility: 5-point preference for wartime veterans with an honorable discharge; 10-point preference for veterans with a 10%+ service-connected disability rating, disabled veterans' spouses who cannot work, or un-remarried surviving spouses of veterans who died in armed conflict.

Estimated value: 5 or 10 points added to state employment examination scores

How to apply: Claim veterans' preference when applying for State of Georgia positions and provide your DD-214 and (if applicable) VA disability documentation.
