Georgia grants qualifying disabled veterans a homestead exemption on their primary residence, applied against state, county, municipal, and school property taxes. The exemption amount is set by a federal index rate and rises each year.
Eligibility: Honorably discharged Georgia veteran who is VA-rated 100% totally disabled, rated less than 100% but paid at the 100% rate for unemployability, or entitled to statutory awards for loss/loss of use of hands, feet, or sight; must own and occupy the home as a primary residence. Extends to un-remarried surviving spouse or minor children.
