Ohio Veterans Bonus
A cash bonus paid by the Ohio Department of Veterans Services to eligible Ohio veterans who served during the Persian Gulf, Afghanistan, and Iraq conflict eras.
Eligibility: Ohio resident at the time of entry onto active duty and a current Ohio resident, who served honorably (generally 90+ days) during qualifying periods on or after October 7, 2001, or earlier Gulf War service. Survivors of those who died in service may also qualify.
Estimated value: $50/month for domestic service or $100/month for in-theater service, up to a $1,500 maximum

County Veterans Service Commission Emergency Financial Assistance
Each of Ohio's 88 counties operates a Veterans Service Commission that provides temporary emergency financial aid and free assistance filing state and federal VA claims.
Eligibility: Veteran discharged under honorable conditions (or an eligible spouse, surviving spouse, or dependent) who is a bona fide county resident, typically for the prior three months, with a demonstrated financial hardship.
Estimated value: Short-term aid for rent/mortgage, utilities, food, and other essentials, paid directly to vendors
