Disabled Veterans Enhanced Homestead Exemption
Ohio's enhanced homestead exemption shields a larger share of a home's market value from property taxes for veterans rated 100% service-connected disabled and their qualifying surviving spouses, with no income test.
Eligibility: Own and occupy an Ohio home as your primary residence and hold a VA rating of 100% service-connected disability (or individual unemployability compensated at the 100% rate) as of January 1; qualifying surviving spouses also eligible. No income limit applies to the veterans' enhanced exemption.
Estimated value: Exempts up to $50,000 of the home's market value from taxation (roughly double the standard homestead exemption)
How to apply: File Form DTE 105I with your county auditor along with your DD-214 and VA disability award letter, by December 31 for the following tax year.
